Are you worried about how to choose the structure of pcap capacitive the touch screen?Or are you still confuse the difference of touch screen panel’s structure. All right, today we will talk about the structure of pcap capacitive touch screen and how to choose the best one for your project.
Generally, there have 7 kinds of structure of pcap capacitive touch screen:In-cell, On-cell,OGS,PET+Glass sensor,Glass+film+film,Glass+film,Glass+Glass.
In-Cell:
The touch screen sensor function is embedded inside the display screen, which can make the screen thinner and lighter. At the same time, the In-cell screen needs to be embedded with a matching touch chip. Otherwise, it is easy to cause erroneous touch sensing signals or excessive noise. Therefore, for any display panel manufacturer, the threshold for entering In-Cell/on-cell touch screen technology is indeed quite high, and it is still necessary to overcome the difficulty of low yield. Once the In-cell is damaged, not only the touch screen will be damaged, but the display screen will also be scrapped together. Therefore, manufacturers have higher requirements for the yield of In-cell. High-end mobile phones with In-cell technology have iphone.
On-Cell:
It refers to the method in which the touch screen is embedded between the color light film substrate and the polarizer of the display screen, that is, the touch sensor is equipped on the liquid crystal panel.
Compared with In Cell technology, the difficulty is much lower. Samsung, Hitachi, LG and other manufacturers have made rapid progress in On-Cell touch screens. At present, On-Cell is mostly used in Samsung Amoled panel products. Technically, it has not been able to overcome the problems of thinning and uneven color when touching.
OGS:
The touch panel factory integrates the touch glass and the cover glass into a one glass solution, that is, the ITO conductive layer is plated on the inside of the general cover glass, so that the single piece of glass not only has the strength and safety of the protective glass, but also It also has touch function.
As the current glass-based projected capacitive touch panels mostly use two glass structures, that is, a cover plate is added to one touch glass. In order to simplify the material manufacturing process, improve production efficiency and reduce costs, while reducing the use of a piece of glass, it can also make the design of the terminal product lighter and thinner, and make the touch screen more transparent, so almost all touch panels have started to develop monolithic Glass solutions.
From a technical perspective, OGS technology has the following advantages over the current mainstream GG touch technology: simple structure, light weight, thinness, and good light transmittance. Because it saves a piece of glass and the laminating process, it helps to reduce production costs and improve Product yield. However, the technology is currently facing the selection of the manufacturing process of the induction circuit, as well as the strength maintenance and quality stability that should exist when used as the surface glass, and the adjustment of the control chip. The difficulty in improving the yield rate has caused fewer mass production manufacturers.
P+G(PET+Glass):
The surface of the P+G capacitive touch screen is PET plastic, the hardness is usually only 2-3H, which is quite soft, and it is very easy to produce scratches in daily use. It must be filmed and carefully protected. Its advantages are simple process and low cost.
Because the surface of the P+G capacitive touch screen is plastic, it is easy to harden, become brittle, and change color under the action of acid, alkali, oily substances and sunlight. Therefore, it must be used carefully to avoid contact with such substances. If used improperly, aerosol and white spots will be generated, which will make the product unsightly.
The light transmittance of the P+G PET cover lens is only 83%, and the light loss is serious. The picture is inevitably low and dim, and the light transmittance will gradually decrease over time. This is also a fatal flaw of the P+G capacitive touch screen.
P+G's PET plastic is a kind of polymer material, which has great surface resistance and does not slide smoothly, which greatly affects the operating experience. It uses the chemical glue that comes with PET, the process is very simple, but the bonding reliability is not high. There is also a very important point: the P+G capacitive touch screen sensor glass and the PET plastic cover lens are broken due to the difference in expansion coefficient of thermal expansion and contraction, and thus scrapped. Therefore, the repair rate of P+G capacitive touch screens will be much higher than that of G+G capacitive touch screens.
G+F(Glass+Film) :
This structure uses a single-layer Film sensor, and the ITO pattern is generally triangular, which supports gestures, but does not support multiple points.
Advantages: good light transmission (can reach about 90%), and the total thickness of the sensor is thin
Disadvantages: single-point is the mainstay, multi-touch cannot be realized, and the anti-interference ability is poor.
The sensor uses film, commonly known as film, which is a softer film that is easy to fit, so the cost is lower. Generally, only single-point touch and gesture operations are supported. Compared with the material of glass, it will be more affected by temperature changes. This material is widely used in domestic mobile phones, tablet computers and other consumer electronics.
G+F+F(Glass+Film+Film):
Features: This structure uses two layers of Film, and the ITO pattern is generally rhombus and rectangle, which supports really many points.
Advantages: high accuracy, good handwriting effect, support for real multi-point, sensor can be shaped, short time, thin total thickness, conventional thickness is 1.15mm, strong anti-interference ability
Disadvantages: The light transmittance is not as high as G+G, about 86%.
G+G(Glass+Glass):
Features: This structure uses a layer of glass sensor, and the ITO pattern is generally diamond-shaped and supports multi-touch.
Advantages: Adopting optical glue bonding, high light transmittance (about 90%), suitable for outdoor use, sensor is made of glass material, not easy to be affected by temperature, performance temperature, and mature technology.
Disadvantages: The glass sensor is easily damaged when impacted, and the overall thickness is relatively thick.
The process is complicated and the cost is high, suitable for industrial, automotive and other fields.
